Website Health Test

An open-source website health test covering uptime, response time, HTTPS redirect, security headers, caching, compression, mixed content and render-blocking scripts.

Project overview

Where the domain checker looks at DNS and email, this test looks at what the web server actually sends. It grades 21 HTTP-level checks, from Strict-Transport-Security and Content-Security-Policy to cache headers, HTML weight, images without dimensions and http:// resources on HTTPS pages. Each problem comes with the header or change that fixes it.

What I built

  1. 01

Reused the inspect Worker to capture headers, the redirect chain and whether plain HTTP redirects to HTTPS.

  2. 02

Graded security headers on substance, not just presence: HSTS max-age, inline-script allowances in the CSP, and software-version leaks.

  3. 03

Parsed the page in the browser to find render-blocking scripts, mixed content, unsized and non-lazy images, and unsafe new-tab links.

  4. 04

Linked results to the domain health checker so one site can be tested at both the DNS and the HTTP layer.

Implementation notes

Response time is measured from Cloudflare’s edge, so it reflects the server, not the tester’s own connection.

Published with an MIT license and a self-hostable Worker.
