OneDrive to Frame.io Transfer Integration

A service that moves folders from OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox and transfer links into Frame.io V4 without storing a byte on the server.

Diagram of cloud-to-cloud transfer from OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox and transfer links into Frame.io V4 through a bridge that never stores files
Cloud to cloud: file bytes never touch the server

The brief

Footage and assets arrive spread across OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox and transfer links, but review happens in Frame.io. Moving them normally means downloading every file and uploading it again, which is slow for large media and leaves copies on laptops and servers.

What I built

  1. 01

Asked Microsoft Graph for a short-lived, pre-authenticated download URL and handed it to Frame.io’s remote-upload API, so Frame.io fetches the file directly from Microsoft.

  2. 02

Handled Dropbox, SwissTransfer and WeTransfer links the same way, and streamed private Google Drive files through bounded memory in Frame.io’s multipart ranges.

  3. 03

Preserved folder hierarchy and made transfers resume-safe: existing folders are reused and files already at the destination are skipped.

  4. 04

Signed users in with official Microsoft and Adobe OAuth pages, with Microsoft access through a read-only MCP sidecar limited to delegated Files.Read.

What the system does

Zero-disk transfer

File bytes travel cloud to cloud. The container has a read-only filesystem and a small in-memory temp area.

Five sources

OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, SwissTransfer and WeTransfer into any Frame.io V4 project.

Safe sign-in

Official OAuth pages; tokens stored in a protected volume; access logs off so callback parameters are never written.

Result

  • Large folders reach Frame.io without being downloaded anywhere in between.
  • An interrupted transfer can simply be restarted; nothing is sent twice.

Stack

  • Python
  • Docker
  • Microsoft Graph API
  • Google Drive API
  • Dropbox API
  • Frame.io V4 API
  • OAuth 2.0
  • MCP
